The Irish Embassy in Vietnam and Cambodia to Finance a 1,500$ Scholarship for a Year 2 Master’s Student in Law at RULE

Under the framework of an agreement between the Government of Ireland, represented by the Embassy of Ireland in Vietnam, and the Royal University of Law and Economics, represented by the Dual Degree Department in Law, to implement a capacity-building project titled Cambodia Education Enabling Funding dedicated to the reform of the criminal justice system and access to justice, RULE launches a call for application to a 1,500$ scholarship to support a Year 2 master’s student at RULE in the development of a master’s thesis falling under the broad topics of ‘’Access to Justice”, “Human Rights”, “Environmental Law” or “Reform of the Criminal Justice System’’, to be defended during the academic year 2025-2026. The scholarship will be used to help to finance the tuition fees of Year 2 of the master’s degree in law. The student will receive some direct supervision by a law professor from the Irish higher education institution partnering on the project, University College Cork (UCC), providing guidance as an acknowledged specialist in the relevant area of legal research.

The student must have passed Year 1 of a master’s degree in law taught in English at RULE during the academic year 2024-2025. The student must demonstrate a strong interest in the relevant area of legal research, with a commitment to draft and defend her/his thesis at the end of the academic year 2025-2026. The student must commit to draft her/his thesis in full compliance to the Dual Degree Department guidebook for the thesis.

-A proposal containing the legal problem under review and a literature review, highlighting the relevance and added-value of the research;

-An up-to-date CV;

-A letter of enrollment confirming registration in a master’s degree of law at RULE;

-A motivation letter demonstrating interest in the themes ‘’Access to Justice”, “Human Rights”, “Environmental Law” or “Reform of the Criminal Justice System’’

Students from a vulnerable background are highly encouraged to apply, especially students from indigenous communities, students from a socially vulnerable background or students with a disability.

Recipient Selection Procedure

2.Deadline for applications: July 7th, 6 pm. Cambodia time;

3.Evaluation and selection of candidates: July 7th – July 14th;

4.Interviews of shortlisted applicants: July 14th – July 18th;

5.Results announcement: July 21st
