PERRIER Jean-Baptiste is the Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences at AMU and a full tenure professor of private law. He is a specialist of criminal law, criminal procedures and criminal sciences, with a strong expertise on cybercriminality.

Jean-Baptiste Perrier studied at the Faculty of Law and Political Science, from his Bachelor’s degree to his Doctorate. He obtained his Doctorate in 2012 by defending a thesis dedicated to “Transactions in criminal matters”, for which he was awarded the First Prize of the Faculty of Law and Political Science, the Aix-Marseille University Prize and the Vendôme Prize of the Ministry of Justice.

Appointed as a lecturer at the University of Auvergne in 2013, he teaches criminal law and criminal procedure while preparing the competitive examination for the agrégation in private law and criminal science. After passing the latter in 2015 and becoming a Professor, he chose to remain at the University of Auvergne where he is notably the Director of Research of the Law School.

Following his arrival at Aix-Marseille University in 2017, he took over the direction of the Master 2 Homeland Security as well as the Institute of Criminal Sciences and Criminology. Within this framework, he developed the training courses towards the international, by creating the Criminal sciences Certificate, and towards the professional world, by creating the Certificate of penal practice. Today, his research activities focus on the evolution of criminal justice and the protection of fundamental rights in criminal matters: he participates in various research missions and ministerial working groups. He is also Vice-President of the French Association of Criminal Law.

He has been involved for several years in the service of the Faculty of Law and Political Science of Aix-Marseille University, first in charge of pedagogical innovations and digital technology, then as a Research Associate. He is now the dean of the Faculty of Law at AMU.
