What have been your journey leading you to RULE?
I am currently in my second semester teaching the Dual Master Program for RULES, specializing in International Risk Management. My experience at RULES has been enriched by the diverse group of individuals I work with, who come from various backgrounds, cultures, languages, and races. Collaborating with such a vibrant community has been a rewarding experience, allowing me to learn many new and interesting things. This journey with RULES has been a significant and fulfilling part of my professional development.
Can you describe how the course(s) you teach are relevant in the current context?
I begin by introducing students to the concept of risk in a general sense, gradually leading them to understand its relevance in cooperation. It’s important for students to recognize that risk is a part of everyday life, not just related to organizations. We explore the distinction between external and internal risks, which helps students manage them more effectively. Subsequently, we delve into risk management strategies, including how to avoid risks, control them, and manage them when organizations operate internationally. This focus allows us to cover the topic of international business management risk comprehensively.
Can you tell us about your experience as a teacher for an international program in Cambodia?
I have over 20 years of experience living, working, and teaching in diverse cultural environments. I have developed a strong understanding of the international community and feel comfortable navigating various cultures, languages, and religious beliefs. It’s not just about adaptability; it’s about understanding different cultural perspectives and ways of thinking. While it can be challenging, it offers a unique opportunity for learning within the global community, particularly in the context of international business management risk.
What do you like the most in teaching at RULE?
I truly appreciate my time at RULE, especially being part of the international community. It reminds me of my family, with my American-Italian wife and our mixed-race son. This environment also evokes my experiences in the States. Additionally, I get to learn from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures, and religions. The students bring a wealth of ideas and stories to share during lessons, enriching the learning experience. This is one of the reasons I chose to pursue a degree in international business and economics. As a result, my focus is on international business management.
Do you have any recommendations for future students and graduates?
Yes, I do! For those who pursue their passions, do it from the heart. Keep searching for what you love; it’s not just about finding a job—it’s about following your passion and commitment. Choosing the right path is crucial; otherwise, it’s like picking the wrong subject to study. Chase your dreams and contribute to your community, helping to make the world a better place.
