University of Sydney Offshore Summer School Concludes at RULE Dual Degree Department

RULE Dual Degree Department welcomed 19 Australian law students from the University of Sydney for their offshore summer school in Cambodia. The program was heavy but fascinating, having lectures by RULE academics paired with corresponding visits, around themes of the past, the present and the future of Cambodian legal system.

-Cambodia’s modern history and memorialisation: a visit to Tuol Sleng and a lecture on the History of modern Cambodia at Preah Srey Içanavarman Museum – SOSORO;

-Introduction to the Cambodian Legal System: a visit at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) paired with a lecture on the recent history of Cambodia’s legal system, by our esteemed Vice-Rector, Dr. Hap Phalthy;

-Cambodia and International Law: a visit at the OHCHR paired with a lecture on Business & Human Rights in Cambodia, conducted by our talented colleague Dr. Socheata SAO;

-Cambodia’s digitalisation: a visit at the ក្រសួងប្រៃសណីយ៍និងទូរគមនាគមន៍ – Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, thanks to H.E. Sothie Keo, RADY MOK Phannarith Ou, G-CISO, with members of the legal team Pagna Phoung RETH, Bunhong Taing and Sophearathna Ros, paired with a lecture on Cambodia’s digitalisation by Pisal Chanty from the Cambodia Academy of Digital Technology.
